APTA Attends National Conference on Physical Activity

APTA Attends National Conference on Physical Activity

Steve Tepper, PT, PhD, recently represented the American Physical Therapy Association [APTA] at the National Physical Activity Plan conference in Washington, DC. The National Activity Plan is a group of organizations and individuals dedicated to developing a plan to empower all Americans to be physically active every day. APTA member Margaret (Maggie) O'Neil, PT, PhD, MPH, also attended the conference.

Jul 17, 2009 9:30 AM - Former US Surgeon General David Satcher, MD, PhD, FAAFP, FACPM, FACP, was one of the keynote speakers, in addition to newly appointed Howard Koh, MD, assistant secretary of health at the US Department of Health and Human Services. Both Satcher and Koh expressed strong support for the goals of the National Physical Activity Plan in developing a national plan to implement national activity guidelines.

APTA is an Organization Partner of the National Physical Activity Plan and serves as a member on the Coordinating Committee. Lisa Culver, PT, DPT, MBA, associate director, APTA department of practice, attended 3 Coordinating Committee meetings during the conference.
