This week, APTA rolled out a media initiative to the national network morning shows, including ABC's Good Morning America and CBS' The Early Show. APTA reinforced its message through print and broadcast media in New York and Chicago with compelling patient/physical therapist stories.
This initiative was supported by the research of APTA Board of Directors member Nicole Stout, PT, MPT, CLT-LANA. The study revealed that pre-operative assessments of patients with breast cancer by physical therapists allow for earlier diagnosis and prevention or management of lymphedema to avoid progression to a more severe stage.

APTA has created a members-only downloadable handout to distribute to patients who may have lymphedema or know someone who does. The information also has been added to the Move Forward consumer Web site.
