Happy National Falls Prevention Awareness Day

On September 9, a bipartisan resolution was drafted by Sen Herb Kohl (D-WI) that would designate September 22 as National Falls Prevention Awareness Day.

The Falls Free Coalition advocacy work group [a group of national organizations and state coalitions working to reduce the growing number of falls and fall-related injuries among older adults] is seeking support and co-sponsors for this resolution to help promote falls prevention awareness and implementation of programs to help reduce falls among the older adults.

The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) is urging older adults to schedule a balance and falls assessment with a physical therapist to reduce risk of falls and related injuries.
